Warrior of the Week: Tuli Candela

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m living the good life in a beautiful place with my great family. I teach 5th grade in the amazing community of Nooksack Valley and I adore my class. I love to make art, listen to and play music, and hike with my dog and my 7-year-old daughter, Rose.

How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?

I began practicing at Flux about 6 months ago. Before that, I’d had a pretty strong home practice for a few years but I was missing the community part of studio practice. I love the heated studio. Plus the teachers at Flux are so knowledgeable and helpful. It really feels like my other home.

How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?

I took my first yoga class when I was 16. That was 21 years ago now! I have explored different types of yoga at various studios in different cities. Yoga has become many things for me. A moving meditation practice. An emotional release. A fantastic workout. Chronic lower back pain due to SI joint dysfunction is mostly gone. It has also helped me to become more patient and equanimous.

Favorite pose and why?

Any of the balancing/standing poses. They remind me to get out of my head and into my body. But I approach every pose with the thought that there will always be something new to explore and feel.

Any advice for new yogis?

You will definitely get out of this practice what you put into it. Practice with heart. Go further. Flow.

❤
