How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?
My first visit to Flux was in July of 2018. I took a bit of a hiatus that fall when I started a new job and then started up again in January 2019. I knew it was my place when it opened my eyes to possibility in my very first class. Melissa assisted me into Wheel Pose after I’d decided that it wasn’t a pose for me and that had me hooked for more. The Flux community sealed the deal because we don’t judge, we just do. It’s always wonderful to see a friendly face when I come into class.
How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?
I really started to learn that’s theres more to the pose than just trying to do it “right.” I’ve learned to become more aware of my body and how it feels that day. The weekly themes easily apply off of my mat and I love that it’s something I can carry with me throughout my day.
Favorite pose and why?
This week it was Warrior I. It was our pose of the week and I realized how much deeper I can go in the pose. It’s hard work, but also fun to stretch my boundaries. When I reach my hands for the sky, I feel so very alive!
Any advice for new yogis?
Just keep coming to class and don’t judge yourself. We’ve all heard this from Flux, but just showing up as you are in that moment is all you need. Don’t forget to breathe!
