How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?
Rebecca: I’ve been practicing at Flux since June 2018 when a friend invited me. I love the location and atmosphere, along with the physical and mental benefits. The periodic challenges the studio puts on are a fun way to stay motivated! (Love those sticker charts!)
Gabriel: I’ve been practicing at Flux since September 2019. I like the holistic approach to fitness on both physical and mental terms. Plus, the teachers are so great and positive!
How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?
Rebecca: I have noticed myself having more confidence and equanimity in my day-to-day life. My body is stronger and healthier, and my eating habits have improved. I feel like I am setting a good example to my daughter about the importance of making time for our health and well-being. I’ve just lately gotten to the point where I can do a classical headstand, which has been a goal of mine for a while!
Gabriel: I’ve evolved in my ability to focus on and off of the mat. My understanding of yoga has grown as I experienced how the physical practice benefits my mental well-being.
Favorite pose and why?
Rebecca: It’s hard to choose, but I think I’m going to have to go with Half Moon pose. I enjoy the openness of the pose combined with the challenge of the balancing aspect. Plus, it’s kinda fun to turn yourself sideways!
Gabriel: Warrior II, because it looks so straightforward, but there’s so much to think about to really create the pose correctly!
Any advice for new yogis?
Rebecca: When it comes to yoga, you get out of it what you put into it. No matter how many times you’ve done a pose, there are always new things you can discover!
Gabriel: Focus on you. Set your own goals and intentions and let each practice be a step towards them.
