Warrior of the Week: Monika Mahal

Tell us about yourself:

I am a PNW native and have found my forever home in Bellingham going on 17 years now! I am a pediatrician at Peacehealth and couldn’t imagine working with a better team to care for our kiddos in Whatcom County.

How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?

I had been feeling a strong pull towards yoga for some time and started the very first Summer they opened. I immediately felt welcome and knew this was going to be a sanctuary for many more years to come

How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?

My practice waxes and wanes along with life’s ups and downs. It teaches me to be forgiving of myself both on the mat and in daily life.

Favorite pose and why?

Child’s pose because it grounds and centers me to become present for the rest of the yoga series.  A simple but essential part of the process.

Any advice for new yogis:

Take your time, be kind to yourself and enjoy the discovery!
