How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?
I have been practicing yoga for about 6 months now at Flux Power Yoga. I found the studio through a friend. She suggested it since I couldn’t do any cardiovascular exercise due to a hip injury. I knew this was my place because I love a challenge and I barely made it through the first class, it was hot, it was hard and it was exhilarating, so I kept on coming back.
How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?
My practice is constantly evolving since I am very new to yoga, so I feel like I am learning all the time. Each week I discover something new about a pose that I did not know before or couldn’t do, it tickles me every time and it makes me smile. I feel that each new discovery regardless of how small has profound consequences in my body and in my life. I have learned to be more responsive versus reactive to adverse events in my daily life. I am more conscious of being present and it is easier to make the choices that matter.
Favorite pose and why?
Wheel would have to be my favorite pose not because I love doing wheel but because it is so profoundly powerful. Wheel is a challenging pose physically and consequently it is difficult mentally since we often create barriers in our minds for things that are difficult. Wheel is a pose that has transformed my belief about yoga and taught me that regular practice of yoga can change your internal life. I believe it is a pose that can crack your soul open so you can receive the beauty that the universe has to offer.
Any advice for new yogis?
I am not sure if I can offer any advice since I feel like I am a very new yogi myself but I would say this much. Try every day to do a little bit, don’t worry what the pose looks like because the pose does not need to be picture worth to have the power to change your life. Namaste
