Warrior of the Week: Jason Heck

How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?

I have been a member off and on at Flux since Jan 2018. I knew it was my place because it’s a fantastic combination of what I’d consider fun yoga, and what I’d consider serious yoga. I’ve been a member of studios that were too serious, and studios that where yoga just felt like a workout class. Flux gets that awesome mix just right, and the instructors are a great reflection of that. I also like the mixed focus on the physical and mental aspects of yoga. 

How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?

The biggest physical benefit I get from yoga is that it replaces my need to see a chiropractor. Mentally/emotionally, it helps me be more confident, mindful, and thankful. 

 Favorite pose and why?

I am a fan of all the balance poses in general as they typically reflect my state of mind. When I am clearheaded and focused, they are easier, when I am distracted or trying too hard, I tend to struggle. Half Moon is probably my favorite as it’s a fun challenge. 

Any advice for new yogis?

The more you give to the community, the more it gives back. I’m very introverted, but the 40 day challenge helped me learn some of the names of my fellow classmates and now I’m able to say hi and feel a stronger connection to the community at Flux.
