Warrior of the Week: Debbie Alleman

How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?

I’ve been practicing at Flux for over a year now.  I love the warmth (not of just the room!) but of everyone in it!  That keeps me coming back…the authentic, friendly teachers who all accept me where I am for that day or any given day.  But continually challenge me to be the best version I can be at that time. They are so inspiring, in fact, that I’m currently in the Flux Power Yoga Teacher Training Program.

How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?

My practice as gotten much more consistent.  For years (and years) I’d be sporadic in my practice.  On again, off again depending on how my life was at the time. Looking back, I know I could have made time….but the “me time” was always the first thing I gave up.  I don’t give that up so easily anymore!  I’m a better person because of my practice.  Calmer, more open and able to make better decisions both in my personal life and at work.

Favorite pose and why?

I am really into Warrior II right now.  Strong and Fierce.  I like the different challenges it poses with my legs, hips and shoulders.

Any advice for new yogis?

Come as often as you can to build on what you are learning.  The hardest part is just showing up!  So don’t give up that “me time”.  That time for yourself, on your mat, will make time with your family/work/friends even that much better!
