Warrior of the Week: Jason Keene

If you’ve been to a 6:15 am Class you cannot miss Jason Keene our Warrior of the Week. Jason stands out as consistent, focused and powerful in his practice. He has the kind of presence that makes you more focused, inspires you to take it to the next level and see what’s possible. He starts his day and Flux before managing his own staff and then ends his day with his wife and 5 kids. Jason is powerful yet humble, kind and positive. #WOW Jason thank you for inspiring us.

How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?

I have been practicing at Flux since March of 2018. I  knew that Flux was the place for me because of the attention that all the Flux instructors put to helping students to learn Yoga. Not only the physical practice of yoga but other aspects of such as breathe work, meditation and self inquiry. I also love how close everyone seems to be at the studio, its not just a place to workout but also a community within our community. And..speaking of workouts, it’s a really amazing workout every session!

How has your practiced evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?

I came to Flux looking to gain a greater knowledge of how to correctly do yoga poses. Over the course of the last year I have learned that where I am at in my practice, in the moment, IS correct. Its not about perfection, its about practice, and being willing to come apart to get to the next level of my own practice. I just completed a 200 hour teacher training with Melissa and Julie and that experience taught me so much about not just the physical practice of yoga but how to bring meditation, inquiry and breathing into my everyday life.

Favorite pose and why?

I really enjoy all of the poses so it is difficult to choose just one. And it would likely change from day to day. For today I would say Half Moon Pose because it looks simple but is actually very challenging. It also changes from day to day. Some days I flow right into it, other days I fall all over the place. I also really like Savasana……

Any advice for new yogis?

A breakthrough is just around the corner physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. Be a Yes for it!
