You might catch him riding his bike or running around town, but you’ll for sure see him most mornings at the 9:30am Flux 55 class! This week’s #warrioroftheweek is full of awesome (and science!)…Chris Robinson
How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?
10 weeks ( I think).
I knew Flux was my place after my first, exhausting/exhilarating lesson. Even though I had never had a yoga lesson, I felt very comfortable with the instruction and how welcoming the instructor and the other Flux participants were. I also knew right away that Flux offered a great workout for my whole body in ways that running/lifting/cycling etc did not provide.
How has your practiced evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?
Physically, Flux has made me stronger and more flexible. I especially notice the benefits in my core as well as flexibility in my hips. This has made running more comfortable and I’m already looking forward to feeling the benefits when I hit the backpacking trails this summer. Mentally, I credit Flux yoga with improving my ability to endure. Specifically, Flux has taught me strategies to relax, breath and just allow things to happen without giving in.
Favorite pose and why?
My favorite pose is Extended Child’s pose. Mostly because is feels great on my hips which are generally pretty creaky. But I also enjoy this pose because it works great to relax, get my breathing started and focus my mind on what’s in front of me. And probably more importantly, it clears my mind of the mundane/tedious things in life that we can all stand to ignore if for only an hour. Incidentally, Frog pose is torture. Really glad we don’t do frog everyday. 🙂
Any advice for new yogis?
