How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?
I have been practicing at Flux since July of 2017 and have never looked back! I was hooked from the start; I love the challenge of the practice and the “no excuses” mindset that comes with committing to a class. If you’re going to get that sweaty, why not give it your all? Also, the community. I never expected to make so many friends and create such strong bonds with fellow Flux yogis, but that truly has been the greatest gift of the entire experience.
How has your practiced evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?
I actually breathe more since starting at Flux! I have gone from breathing for survival to using my breath as a tool to get me through challenging times on and off the mat. Fair warning however, you will get the occasional sideways glance when breathing deeply and victoriously in line at the grocery store.
Favorite pose and why?
Double Pigeon! This pose is still such a challenge for me. No matter how great of a class I have or how many poses I “nail”, Double Pigeon is the reality check at the end of class that reminds me there is always room to grow.
Any advice for new yogis?
NEVER be afraid or ashamed to take breaks. The work we do at Flux is incredibly challenging, both physically and mentally. Trust your body and know that everyone else in the room is rooting for you!
