How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?
I started back up at Flux at the beginning of April this year I believe. I used to love power yoga but had to quit doing more intense workouts for the period of about a year and a half due to body pain and inflammation that prevented me from doing and holding stances. Once my body was capable again I came back to flux because I knew I wanted the infrared heating to help with the inflammation muscle stretching and I also new the teachers are excellent and approachable and you get an all over intense workout. Coming back to Flux I just felt welcomed and supported and that made me feel like this is my Yoga home base. Plus I get a better workout here than at any bootcamp or gym.
How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?
I am working on that evolving thing lol. Some days are just better than others when it comes to strength and balance and ability to hold poses or stretch into the pose. I definitely feel stronger and more energetic overall doing Yoga on a consistent basis. I feel more grounded and at peace and better able to handle stressors in daily life. It settles me to be more mindful and go through my day with more intent.
Favorite pose and why?
I have a love-hate relationship with the wheel; because it’s challenging repeating it 6 or 7 times but I LOVE that I am now capable of doing it.
Any advice for new yogis?
Yogis- stick with it for a few weeks! It will become enjoyable even if it’s challenging and there are so many successes. I notice little changes like being able to rotate my torso more in a position or doing just one more wheel than the last time. Welcome to the Yoga community!
