How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?

I’ve been practicing at Flux for 15 months. The moment I saw the water, and listening to the seagulls in Savasana, I knew this was my place.

How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?

My practice has evolved into actually teaching Yoga.  Yoga has also taught me to breathe in the tough moments of life.

Favorite pose and why?

Crow is my favorite pose.  It took me the longest to get it.  Once I got it, I found flying crow.  It was so incredible!

Any advice for new yogis?

New Yogis, keep coming back you’ll find new possibilities, of improving your well being.  Yoga will help bring serenity and peace to you, and everyone around you.

How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?

I’ve been practicing yoga at Flux for a little over two years. I saw that there was a new yoga place in Fairhaven and kept wanting to give it a try. I had let yoga go by the wayside for over ten years, doing Barre classes and running, but was experiencing lower back pain and arthritis in my wrists. My wrists had gotten so bad that I couldn’t do a plank with my hands flat. I finally came in for the two week trial, and was instantly reminded of all that I had been missing. It took a few months before I could fully use my wrists again but slowly the pain I had been experiencing went away. This was miraculous to me! Since then, Flux has been my daily source for physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. I love the family feeling as soon as you walk in the doors and the teachers are welcoming and so knowledgeable.

How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?

Years ago, I did an Ashtanga yoga class and it was all about what poses I could do and if I could keep up with the class. I was obsessed with pushing myself regardless of injury or pain. Needless to say, this wasn’t sustainable or healthy. My childhood sport of gymnastics was also ingrained in my mind. I had a lot of negative self talk, and judgement about myself. Since starting at Flux, the weekly themes have resonated with me. I have learned to listen to my body and mind. To take it easy on days when that is what I need and to push when I feel strong and wanting more. I love that the teachings of yoga relate to our daily lives in so many ways. Yoga has helped me to listen to my inner voice, to breath and meditate on things before reacting, and to be mindful as I go about my day.

Favorite pose and why?

I love a lot of the poses! Crow and dancer are my favorites. Dancer because it requires balance, strength, and flexibility. When I find the proper push and pull along with a grounding down of my supporting leg, I feel a lightness and grace in the pose. I like Crow because it feels fun and goofy!

Any advice for new yogis?

Yoga can be whatever you want it to be. If you show up on your mat and do child’s pose for the whole hour, that’s great, it’s what you needed. Keep showing up and you will feel the benefits in your mind, body and soul. And remember to be kind to yourself!

How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?

I have been practicing at Flux YOGA for about a year now! The moment I stepped into the studio and felt the warmth and left dripping in sweat, feeling inspired, and in a great mood. I knew it was the place for me!

How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?

What I love about Flux is there is a message for the week, that I can take with me into my everyday life. I teach group fitness and when I take a flux class it inspires me to be a better instructor. Shine my light to others. Flux is a practice in that moment but also stays with me throughout my whole day and my week.  Flux educates with the pose of the week. So I grow and get stronger with each practice. My practice has evolved so much that I am signed up for the Teacher training in September! I’m ready for a deeper understanding of the poses, breath, and of YOGA all together.

 Favorite pose and why?

I love the strength of the warrior poses! Reverse/Sun warrior in particular. I love the opening of the heart, feeling grounded through the feet, and strength in the legs.

Any advice for new yogis?

Advice for a new Yogi, come with an open heart and mind. Be ready to feel powerful and strong, wherever you are at in your YOGA journey. You will leave each class feeling better than you did before you came! You will always learn or try something new no matter how long you have been practicing!

How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?

I’ve been practicing at flux since January of this year.    I knew Flux was my place after I found myself at an extremely transitional time in my life full of change.  I was looking for positive ways to enable me to navigate my way into being a better, stronger and healthier person,  both physically, mentally and spiritually.  My wonderful friend Morgan insisted I give Baptiste Yoga a whirl and within a very short period of time after coming to Flux, I knew this is what I wanted to do to help me on my journey.  The wonderful sense of community, support, kindness and knowledge has kept me coming back for more.  Prior to Flux, I did very little to intentionally better myself on any level, but after my time here, I continuously look for more ways at every opportunity!   I haven’t looked back since and am very grateful for what it’s brought into my life!

How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?

My practice has evolved tremendously since coming to Flux especially since I’m a “newer” yoga practitioner.  When I began, everything was a struggle and a few poses seemed virtually impossible, but after consistent practice, perseverance and fantastic teachers, it’s become so much more fluid and natural.I had significant lower back pain for many years that is essentially completely gone now, thanks to my yoga practice. More than anything, what I’ve learned is how to breathe!  In the midst of my daily life, many times I find myself using my ujjayi to help me regain focus and clarity.  I also find myself taking a deep breathe with an audible release of “aahhhhhh”!  It all feels sooooo good!!!!!

 Favorite pose and why?

I think Wheel is my favorite pose, particularly with a really long hold time.  I love the intensity of trying to hold it for a period of time because it seems like it shouldn’t be that challenging, but my body says otherwise.

Any advice for new yogis?

My advice to any new yogi would be to persevere!  As difficult as things may seem, continue working on it,  knowing that there is no wrong, so long as you persevere, look forward and keep showing up!

How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?

I started back up at Flux at the beginning of April this year I believe. I used to love power yoga but had to quit doing more intense workouts for the period of about a year and a half due to body pain and inflammation that prevented me from doing and holding stances. Once my body was capable again I came back to flux because I knew I wanted the infrared heating to help with the inflammation muscle stretching and I also new the teachers are excellent and approachable and you get an all over intense workout. Coming back to Flux I just felt welcomed and supported and that made me feel like this is my Yoga home base. Plus I get a better workout here than at any bootcamp or gym.

How has your practice evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?

I am working on that evolving thing lol. Some days are just better than others when it comes to strength and balance and ability to hold poses or stretch into the pose. I definitely feel stronger and more energetic overall doing Yoga on a consistent basis. I feel more grounded and at peace and better able to handle stressors in daily life. It settles me to be more mindful and go through my day with more intent.

 Favorite pose and why?

I have a love-hate relationship with the wheel; because it’s challenging repeating it 6 or 7 times but I LOVE that I am now capable of doing it.

Any advice for new yogis?

Yogis- stick with it for a few weeks! It will become enjoyable even if it’s challenging and there are so many successes. I notice little changes like being able to rotate my torso more in a position or doing just one more wheel than the last time. Welcome to the Yoga community!
